Our Courses - Language, Culture & Teaching

Language, Culture & Teaching

'Ki te ako, ki te ārahi, ki te āwheo' reflects the aspirations of Te Pū Wānanga ō Anamata in ensuring that te reo Māori is a vibrant and thriving everyday language. This deliberate approach reflects the Tūhoe vision that language is the cornerstone of communication and the medium by which culture and identity are transmitted.

We are leading the way in a binding commitment to quality te reo Māori that is underpinned by a culture of scholarship and creativity. Our suite of programmes, namely Te Tohu o te Reo Māori, and Te Tohu Ako Paetahi: Mā te Reo, are designed not only to affirm te reo Māori as the everyday language for Tūhoe and other iwi, but also to highlight our aspirations to develop people who have the ability to lead, and to inspire within our communities, and to build
intellectual capacity in te reo Māori.
