From the place that inspires
The aim of this course is to enable students to understand the essence of what it is to be Tūhoe and engaged at whānau, hapū and iwi levels.
What you will learn
Throughout the programme students will explore their Tūhoe identity and learn their language and cultural values. They will also explore and develop an understanding of historical and contemporary Tūhoe society and its future pathways in economic development, education, justice, health and social wellbeing, and hapū development.

Mixed Delivery Mode: Delivered through regular wānanga, field trips/ tohu whenua, online tutorials and iwi/hapū engagement.

Course Content
This course prepares students for greater participation within their communities, and as committee members, marae trustees and hapū delegates to facilitate and lead social and economic development within their tribal communities.
Course Components:
Students must complete six core component
Te Reo Māori
Te Mita Māori
Tūranatira
Tūranawaewae
Kōrero
Mōteatea
These components are delivered through an integrated style, which links elements of each component in a real-life approach to placing the learning firmly within a Tūhoe context and world view.
The programme is part of an intergenerational approach to achieving the Nāi Tūhoe goal of creating healthy, thriving
whānau.
Tūhoe permanency, mana motuhake and matemateaone are the guiding principles to Tūhoe goals.
