Our key differences

Anamata is a leader in working with iwi in education.  Iwi have clear understandings about what is best for their own people, and have long-established processes for maintaining relationships and working together.  There is greater opportunity to engage iwi-to-iwi for consultation around developing new models of training that suit iwi, both in terms of delivery and programme structure.  Working with iwi is an area of strength for Tūhoe, and one which Te Pū Wānanga ō Anamata will continue to grow.

A Māori world view underpins all of our learning, and the courses we have on offer. Firstly they are created richly in Tūhoetanga, and secondly our courses can be applied to all iwi – these points meaning our qualifications are unique to us.   We develop from here with a strong focus on applied learning and ensuring practical experience, knowledge and real connections are achieved in the industries we are teaching within.  This has a direct influence on the quality, success and immediate positive impact our graduates have which provides a significant advantage to them.   These “applied Māori methods” that underpin our core curriculum create a unique learning experience and outcomes that benefits our students but also allows them to extend beyond their qualification to have positive influences within whànau, hapū and iwi.  Anamata offers its multiple educational opportunities with a combination of online and onsite options in various locations for increased accessibility to as many people as possible.

Anamata gives you opportunities to explore, discover your identity, your language and your culture through a diverse range of courses enabling you to contribute to a prosperous and vibrant community. Our students are people of all ages and backgrounds who are inspired to achieve and supported to learn and be well informed.
